On the 23rd of April, APF were represented at the multi faith event Faith Day outside Lakenheath Airbase.

Despite the roar of overhead jets and the passing cars honking their approval of our stand, we were able to share reflections, prayer, litany and song.

Sue Claydon, our Chair, read out the below statement from our Bishop Advisor David Walker, Bishop of Manchester.

At a time when countries around the globe are rapidly expanding the resources they are willing to commit to the weapons of war, it has never been more vital for people of faith, including Christians, to commit our resources to the weapons of peace, of which prayer remains the most potent in our armoury. Your coming together in vigil, across different religious traditions, and notwithstanding diverse sympathies in the matters that divide peoples and nations, is itself an immensely powerful witness to our commitment to pursue peace with even greater fervour than that of those who seek to pursue war.

May your efforts be richly blessed.

David

She also read out a statement from Nobel prize winner Mairead Corrigan Maguire who has come to the end of her 40 day fast which she undertook for the children of Gaza and everywhere else blighted by conflict. The statement can be seen here.
